You will possess a passion for functional sportswear and providing solves for the needs that consumers don’t yet realise they have, as well as a broad knowledge of the branded sportswear market. Comfortable operating in a dynamic and fast changing environment with the ability to support the Women’s Head of Design. Reporting to the Men’s Head of Design you will be tasked with creating exceptional branded collections and product stories across a range of activities. Function and aesthetic are both equally important as well as ensuring consistency of design language and on time delivery to the market.

You will be a natural collaborator with strong aesthetic awareness and interpersonal skills, matched with the ability to engage, connect and influence across multiple functions. You are consumer and problem solving obsessed and bring passion and innovation to your role. Managing your own workload is key, as is the ability to working on multiple projects at the same time.

  • Research into key activities, consumer needs and marketplace trends
  • Investigate and action consumer’s product needs
  • Translate seasonal tends alongside functional needs
  • Design assigned capsules on a seasonal basis
  • Responsible for ensuring that the brand DNA, creative direction and seasonal strategies are implemented through all concepts and designs
  • Day to day management and planning of seasonal workload
  • Working closely with development counterparts to problem solve in product
  • Manage and mentor direct reports to meet all design deadlines and key development dates in the critical path

Seasonal Product Planning

  • Influence and input into critical path planning

Product Creation Ownership

  • Research the market trends and influences
  • Be involved in market trips including competitive benchmarking, gaining consumer insights, researching conditioning activities and exploring opportunities for inspiring the design team
  • Deliver seasonal designs on time at 25 - 50 - 100% review stages
  • Ensure you work to target product briefs, as directed by Product Marketing
  • Confident decision making and proactive with solutions when working with development teams on construction, fit and product detailing
  • Confidently present work at internal Product Sign offs as well as company product launches
  • Giving critical feedback on design work to peers and direct reports to hone the collections
  • Presenting product design and functions at seasonal product launch
  • Understand the commercial impact of current & past Gymshark products and learn from any mistakes
  • Work cross functionally with legal, insights, trading and brand teams at key points in the critical path
  • Responsible for working cross functionally to ensure product stories are translated to e-commerce
  • High levels of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
