OVERVIEW:
Gymshark recognises that in order to keep growing, we need to put data and insight at the centre of the decisions we make – ensuring we are truly data led. The Data function underpins this vision by providing the data, analysis and research to drive and validate our business strategies. The Analytics team sits within the Data function and splits into 3 teams – Customer, Marketing and Commercial.  

The customer analytics team ensures that teams around the business have an in-depth understanding of Gymshark's customer behaviour and trends and can act on this data to segment and profile customers, understand what customers are purchasing and when and report on key KPIs. The marketing analytics team are the bridge between the data function & the marketing teams and empower our marketing teams to be truly data led. The commercial analytics team act as key partners to the commercial, product and merchandising teams to ensure these teams are using data in their decisions.

The customer insight analyst role sits in the customer analytics team and ensures customer insight is at the heart of decision making and teams have an in-depth understanding of customer behaviour and trends. As a customer insight analyst you will be responsible for delivering a variety of ad-hoc requests, reporting and analysis, primarily focused around the strategic areas of customer insight. This will involve taking briefs and business questions from stakeholders, working with large data sets to get to the data required, pulling out the key insights and trends within the data and presenting this back to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, with recommendation focussed insights. The primary tools you will be using on a daily basis to unlock analytical insight into Gymshark's customer base will be SQL, Tableau and Alteryx; but we are always looking for ways to develop our skills and toolkit.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
  • Develop a complete knowledge of customer related data, working closely with the data team to identify any gaps in data or new data sources to build in
  • Build insight reports and dashboards to enable wider business teams to self-serve in analytics and allow quick access to core customer KPIs
  • Use information and insight gained to share knowledge of customer behaviours across the business
  • Work closely with multiple business teams by providing actionable insight, driving sophisticated customer segmentation and targeting, campaign optimisation and in-depth knowledge of customer behaviour
  • Adopt a continuous learning approach to data modelling, analysis, mining and reporting techniques, keeping up to date with the latest thinking and practices
  • Develop strong relationships with key departments in order to position customer insight at the heart of the decision-making processes
  • Develop strong relationships with all sub-teams within the data function, sharing learnings to maximise the access and value of insights across the business
  • Take clear ownership of projects right from the start from a brief from a stakeholder through to analysis and actionable recommendations
  • Take a proactive approach where possible to give ideas on projects that could unlock growth or opportunities for Gymshark to use customer insight for
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with a wide range of key stakeholders
  • Experience in an Analyst role, focused on insight
  • Curious thinking, self-driven character with a passion for understanding customers
  • Ability to identify patterns and trends but also understand what is driving them
  • A problem solver and logical thinker, with the ability to see the bigger picture and get to the underlying business questions
  • Highly numerate and commercially aware
  • Strong in a wide range of analytical tools, e.g. SQL, Alteryx, Google Analytics
  • Proficient in the use of data visualisation tools e.g. Tableau, PowerBI
  • Experience working with (including the manipulation of) large data sets
  • Well organised with the ability to prioritise workload and manage stakeholders effectively
  • Comfortable in translating complex data sets into readable formats for less data-literate colleagues and comfortable in providing recommendations to drive a data led strategy
  • Engaging presentation/ communication skills with the ability to present a convincing, data-driven argument for ideas to internal stakeholders and colleagues
  • It would be great if you also have some experience using Python and R (but not essential)
