OVERVIEW:

The Head of Logistics will be responsible for leading the Logistics team function within the Product team.

You will be responsible for delivering the Logistic transformation and improvement strategy in line with the commercial objective of the business; ensuring sustainable results in line with the Gymshark’s global DC road map. You will work with both GSHQ business leaders as well as the GSHK & GSMU sourcing leadership to achieve the best long-term outcomes for Gymshark.

You will be responsible for delivering product into each market; you will work with business leaders from Sourcing, SDP and Operations to achieve cross-functional alignment. Continuously monitor freight spends and identify opportunities for optimisation and long-term EBITDA improvement.

You must possess an ability to see the big picture and understand the implications that different decisions will have on our results, be able to translate complex logistical scenarios into clear messages that your team can deliver against. Logistics and Sourcing are regarded as the margin custodians; you will play a pivotal role in delivering commercial success to the business. You will be the Gymshark Logistics’ architect; success will be seen with the establishment of a world-class global logistics team that delivers balanced and continuously improving performance.

Your ultimate responsibility is to ensure stock is delivered into our global distribution centres efficiently at the right time, in so doing maximising transport efficiency, visibility across the business, and ensuring on-time deliveries to meet launch calendars. You will need to drive the strategy for the team; collaborating, building trust and coaching your team to deliver the business needs.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
  • EADCollaborate with Directors from Sourcing, SDP and Operations on the continual improvement of the inbound logistics strategy and future proof the processes in place.
  • Use your experience and knowledge to create team strategies, processes, standards and policies with ‘best practice’ in mind and ultimately delivering the goals of your function.
  • Often you will need to solve complex logistical problems that occur that could adversely affect stock-flow plans. You will need to be able to gather all the necessary information, analyse the situation and identify the root cause. Working to solve the immediate issue, you will need to draw conclusions, decide on next steps and provide a summary of the outcomes to key stakeholders. You will also then need to identify future improvements in processes to prevent future problems.
  • Forecast and manage the yearly spend on inbound logistics, providing clear periodical reports for key personnel
  • Responsible for recruiting, coaching and reviewing the performance of your team to ensure KPI’s are achieved
  • Ability to manage a team; managing the team’s deadlines and workload as necessary, whilst maintaining a positive and enjoyable working environment
  • Able to work with a varied level of experience and ability to develop your team
  • Comfortable working collaboratively across other functions, bringing people together to solve issues, and supporting as necessary to ensure resolution
  • Set the vision for your team, and ensure clarity of objectives, drive feedback and coaching culture to enhance and drive the inclusion and performance of your team

  • You will need to manage and influence key internal and external relationships required to gather all necessary information to inform other areas of the business of delivery schedules; with stock cover goals and a product launch calendar to adhere to
  • Maintaining close links with Sourcing and the Demand Planning arm within SDP (who will be providers global DC’s allocation) will be pivotal to this role. You will need to work hand in hand with the Head of Demand Planning to ensure stock is delivered on-time, in-full as needed
  • Other key relationships would be those with satellite sourcing offices in ensuring timely handover of goods from suppliers and the downward communication within the HQ of the business, mainly the trading arm within the commercial function
  • Able to tender out and negotiate our freight partnerships, ensuring the best partner(s) is/are picked and can meet all business requirements. You will then need to continually monitor the actual performance of partners against expectations from a service and costs perspective
  • Build the freight KPI’s for the team (including on-time delivery, lateness and reasons, packing list accuracies, freight costs, journey times etc.), measure against these KPI’s and periodically provide summary reports to key stakeholders
  • Your team will be responsible for continually analysing the delivery schedule, referencing the launch schedule for timely deliveries on the new product, also doing the same for repeat drops of live products across all DC’s and collaborating with the Demand Planning team to guarantee stock availability.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • Advanced knowledge of global freight management, importation legislation and requirements (in particular North America & Europe)
  • Demonstrable understanding of customs tariffs and coding systems
  • Experience managing a department within a fast-paced global brand. You are able to confidently line manage team members to support a high-performance culture
  • Excellent communication skills – able to tailor to your audience based on experience level and positively influence people to complete any task at hand
  • Solid numerical skills
  • Ability to lead meetings with key heads in the business and present information clearly with confidence
  • Very strong planning skillset; you’re able to navigate comfortably in a fast-paced environment
  • The ability to delve into detail but always keeping the strategy and bigger picture in mind
  • Be naturally time conscious and KPI driven to attain deadlines
  • Very capable within Microsoft office suite
  • Good understanding of different modes of freight transportation, ports & routes, costs, regional requirements etc. and therefore able to recommend and implement the right freight strategy for Gymshark.
