Reporting to Gymshark’s Head of Research, the Market Intelligence Manager is critical to driving the business forward through new growth opportunities. You will provide the business with a broad and deep understanding of the context of the macro environment, along with implications of what this means for Gymshark.

As Market Intelligence Manager you will be responsible for building, leading and coaching a team of researchers and insight executives, coordinating a diverse range of market projects and identifying opportunities for market insight uncovered by your team to drive change and unlock value for Gymshark.

You will use a variety of data sources, methodologies and progressive market insight solutions to gather data to guide market development and penetration strategies, generate country overviews which empower the business with a forensic understanding of key territories, and report on competitor performance, share and growth with recommendations for the senior leadership team. You will be the category expert for Gymshark’s growing portfolio – helping the business decide “where next?”.

You will work closely with a variety of stakeholders, ensuring you have visibility of their roadmaps to understand where your team can provide actionable insight, as well as immersing yourself in the overarching strategy of the business - playing an active role in identifying future trends, opportunities and threats to ensure Gymshark stays ahead of curve.

You’ll collaborate with Research, Insight and Data leaders, joining the dots between your findings to provide Gymshark with a sixth sense that enables the business to prosper, grow and disrupt.

  • Coach, lead and help build the market intelligence team
  • Develop and upskill the market intelligence team into the go-to resource for market and competitor intelligence within the business
  • Complete analysis and interpretation of secondary research sources in order to better understand the market in which Gymshark operates
  • Identify and implement new and disruptive secondary research tools, build and maintain relationships with research partners to maximise resources available to Gymshark, ensuring we have appropriate support for any project that arises – subjective to Head of Research sign off
  • Deliver strategic market entry and development projects at Chief-level to help identify new market opportunities and challenges
  • Proactively monitor the market we operate within and our category portfolio, reporting on trends, innovations, competitor activity and macro environment factors that we must be aware of to remain a strong competitor within the market
  • Be the custodian of category insights to guide NPD process, sales forecasting and efficiently monitor and analyse the market
  • Plan and maintain the market and competitor intelligence roadmap, reviewing this regularly within your team and across the wider insight team, ensuring all projects add value and solve business challenges
  • Support the Head of Research in the planning and maintenance of the overarching Research roadmap, identifying market and competitor intelligence projects that should sit on this roadmap, whilst ensuring projects align with key business processes/timelines and the overarching insight roadmap
  • Work with the Head of Research to develop an effective market intelligence strategy, which helps the insight team deliver on their overarching strategy
  • Work closely with the Audience and Customer Research teams, collaborating on projects and sharing insights/learnings
  • Champion insight across the business, educating teams on how it can add value whilst raising its profile to encouraging the adoption of insight lead processes and a data/insight led culture
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of the strategies and tactics of our competitors, informing the business of these to ensure we are able to respond/act appropriately
  • Identify and monitor target addressable market sizes, reporting on Gymshark’s market share and challenging the business on how we can increase this share
  • Proactively identify opportunities where insight can add value for the business, delivering solutions that solve business challenges and/or present valuable opportunities
  • Develop strong relationships with key teams across the business, acting as a strategic partner to those teams, providing them with actionable insight which can help to inform business decisions and strategy
  • Understand business needs and challenges to ensure your team provide the right insight to the right stakeholder, always with relevant and actionable recommendations
  • Conduct due diligence for new market opportunities, producing new market proposals/go-to-market strategies which highlight opportunities and barriers to entry
  • Provide support and development to any individuals that report into you (set clear goals, conduct regular review meetings, provide feedback, refine development plans, assess and so on), ensuring they are supported in their day to day role
  • Develop your team’s storytelling and stakeholder management skills, whilst proving hands on support where needed
  • Ensure that all third parties/partners we choose to work with are trusted, reflect Gymshark’s values and can act as an extension of the business
  • Degree in Business, Marketing, Mathematics or Science or equivalent experience
  • Experience in a market insight specialist / executive level position
  • Strong people management skills
  • Proven experience conducting market insight projects which have driven strategic business decisions
  • Commercially minded, intellectually curious with a bias for action
  • Deeply analytical with quantitative and qualitative data – framing and conducting analysis, market modeling and trend forecasting
  • Effectively engage team members across various levels
  • Forward-thinking, strategically minded individual with the ability to focus on the big picture insight
  • Strong communication skills – data visualization, presentation creation
  • Openness to fresh ideas and new perspectives
  • Comfortable in fluid environment and navigating through ambiguity
  • Proficiency with data analytics and data visualization, e.g. Tableau
  • In-depth knowledge/experience in research tools and techniques and comfortable working with quantitative market data
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to educate teams on how insight can support them
  • A strategic thinker that is commercially minded and has the ability to identify market opportunities
