OVERVIEW:

In your role as Decision Science Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the Decision Science team, setting clear vision and objectives for the team and ensuring the Decision Team is adding high business value across multiple teams. You will also take a lead on building and maintaining a wide range of statistical models that can be used by multiple business teams to make informed decisions. You will drive further insight into customer behaviour and targeting, build predictive models to aid future thinking and ‘what next’ for business teams and partner closely with teams to enable them to understand how to use output of the models for future growth and strategy.

You will partner closely with the Data team to ensure that the data feeding the models built is clean, accurate and accessible whilst also suggesting new data sources to bring in that will aid you in your role. You will also work closely with the wider Analytics teams to enhance technical understanding in the team and ensure the wider analytics team have visibility of models built to leverage for any strategic projects being worked on.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
  • Lead and mentor Decision Science team, setting a clear vision and roadmap, individual objectives and provide strong leadership
  • Lead and mentor team in building and development of a wide range of statistical predictive models e.g. LTV modelling, retention likeliness, churn likeliness, customer decisioning models
  • Work closely with and influence stakeholders to use predictive models built to drive informed decisions
  • Explain complex modelling approaches in simple terms and develop compelling narratives that connect data analysis with business problems
  • Lead on driving ideas forward on decision science use to business teams on what could be done through predictive models rather than being reactive to business teams
  • Guide team in producing data visualization such as infographics and dashboards to communicate findings and actionable recommendations to internal stakeholders clearly and effectively
  • Analyse and manipulate large data sets on a regular basis to uncover trends and understand what factors need to go into models built
  • Partner teams on implementation and ongoing monitoring of any models built
  • Drive further insight into customer behaviour, including increased sophistication on targeting relevant messages at customers and understanding when, how and why they are likely to buy
  • Provide technical mentoring to both the Decision Science team and wider Analytics team
  • Partner with senior management to help drive a data led approach and measure the success of any strategic decisions post-implementation
  • Partner with the data team to ensure maintenance, cleanliness and readiness of key data sources to use in models built
  • Develop strong relationships with all sub-teams within the insight team, sharing learnings to maximise the access and value of insights across the business
  • Keep up to date with the latest decision and data science industry trends and approaches to ensure best practice, including attendance at relevant events to upskill
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • Strong statistical modeling and data analysis background(e.g. significance testing, regression modeling, sampling theory, etc.)
  • Line management experience of a team of analysts or decision scientists
  • Experience in data analysis, data science, decision science, or similar quantitative fields
  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally with a wide range of key stakeholders
  • Expert use of R or Python or a similar scripting language for statistical modelling
  • Expert in a wide range of analytical tools, including Google Analytics, BigQuery, SQL, Alteryx
  • Strong experience working with (including the manipulation of) large data sets from multiple data sources
  • Expert communicator in translating complex models into actionable recommendations and data led decisions for non-technical audiences
  • Highly engaging presenter with the ability to present a convincing, data-driven argument for ideas to internal stakeholders and colleagues
  • Able to manage your own development alongside the Head of Analytics, identifying opportunities to improve both yourself and the team
